SHOWstudio's Fashion Revolution

Those of you who have been reading this blog for a while (merci my darlings) know the absolute devotion I feel for Nick Knight's project SHOWstudio. I have always recommended their fashion films, interactive games and livestreams because I love how they challenge all the commonplace concepts about fashion, instead relating it to art, technology, innovation, politics... Everything they do is simply fantastic.
So when I had the chance to talk to SHOWstudio's creative minds and write about them, I jumped right at it (perhaps a little too over enthusiastically). L'Express published my article, which you can read HERE. I hope you'll enjoy it (also, I hope you can read French). Tell me what you think about it!

Cameo Fever

After a little hibernation period I'm back on track, so bonjour! (actually, it was a little more than a "little" hibernation. Actually, it was no hibernation at all - I wish it had been , actually it was a work-crazed period. But what with spring being here and all that I feel all chirpy and energized. So I thought I'd share with you my newest obsession: cameos.

I'm lying; as a matter of fact it's far from my newest obsession... I've been in love with cameos for more than 10 years, since I saw one of those antique poison rings (rings with a little secret compartment to conceal poison- I guess they were quite popular during the kingdom of Louis XIV) with a cameo on it at the Louvre des Antiquaires. I don't know what it is about them: more understated than big shiny rocks and gold, they are just as exquisite (sometimes more) and, well, they have the whole Mediterranean, antique charm. The thing is, for years it was near impossible to find any cameo jewellery, so you can imagine my endless joy upon realizing they are back in fashion! Only this time they're not the classic, soigné ones: it's all about the psychedelic, rock and pop versions now. So which one would you choose?

The fantastic Tom Binns uses cameos as a staple in all his collections. Handpainted with acid colors and often mixed with stones, they have all the magic of a psychedelic trip to them. What's not to love?

I've only recently found out about Amedeo Scognamiglio's designs, and I feel like I've just been let in into some fantastic secret. Amedeo does classic-looking cameos... which are all but classic: monkeys, owls, skulls, all kinds of unexpected motives can be found in his designs.

Finally Miu Miu has just launched a capsule collection of graphic, pop-inspired cameos: bracelets, earrings and necklaces are among the oh-so-cute pieces in the collection. So go ahead, tell me about your favourite one!
