So much buzz about Yves Saint Laurent recently, and so many different people talking about the maison and the designer's heritage... So I thought it would be nice to do a little post in which to see and hear Monsieur Saint Laurent, with his own voice. He no doubt was one of the greatest, not only thanks of his designs, but also because of his ideas on life and women (plus you can't help but to adore the young Yves, so shy and handsome). What do you love the most about his work?
Have you read "The Beautiful Fall: Fashion, Genius, and Glorious Excess in 1970s Paris" by Alicia Drake? It is one of my all time favorite books-you should certainly read, if you haven't yet! It tells the story of YSL from the beginning as well as Karl Lagerfeld's. It's fantastic! After reading it, I love him even more. I think the most impressive thing about him and his talent is that it was so natural - like breathing is to the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteHi Christine! Thanks for your comment! Yeah, I have read it and I LOVE it! Also, the thing is the stories of Yves and Karl are pretty puch part of the DNA of Parisians (as cliché as it might sound), everyone here knows so much about them, their lives, their work...
